2007 NAGA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) is America's largest mixed grappling tournament circuit with over 45,600 competitors worldwide. On Saturday, April 21, 2007 the NAGA comes to Jersey City, New Jersey for its largest tournament of the year. NAGA welcomes both individuals and teams to compete. This event is nationally RANKED!
PRE-REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO REGISTER THE DAY OF THE EVENT.! |
LARGEST ARENA IN TRI-STATE AREA
The Jersey City Armory is the largest indoor arena ever used for a grappling event. With over an entire football field of open space, the venue can easily fit the 16 rings NAGA is now using. Stadium seating is available around the entire arena and steel barricades will be used to keep everyone except grapplers and coaches off the mat. You are going to love how much space this venue offers and how nice it will be to sit right above the action!
IMPROVEMENTS FOR 2007
The NAGA is constantly making improvements to our events through feedback we receive from you, our competitors.
MORE DIVISIONS
* MORE MENS DIVISIONS – Starting with the new Bantam Weight (129.9 & under) division and going up every 10 lbs!
* MORE MASTERS DIVISIONS – Adults 30 to 40 years old will also have 11 weight classes versus only 3 in the past!
* MORE WOMENS DIVISIONS – More women weight classes starting with new Flyweight (119.9 lbs & under)!
* MORE CHILDREN DIVISIONS – Boys & Girls will have their own separate divisions, also added… Kids Novice!
* MORE TEEN DIVISIONS – Boys & Girls Teens will have their own separate divisions (Beginner through Expert)!
MORE RINGS
We will be running 16 rings concurrently throughout the entire event.
SANDBAGGERS BEWARE
NAGA works diligently to prevent "sandbagging", or the practice of fighting down skill levels to ensure one takes home an award. The NAGA has been working with RANKED to track all fighters and ranked grappling events to produce true "national standings." A by-product of these standings is our knowledge of who has competed, and at which level. At the NAGA World Championships, front door personnel will use RANKED data to determine whether or not individuals who have fought in past events belong in a higher skill level (i.e. placed 1st at a prior NAGA event for that skill level). We feel very confident that sandbaggers will be forced to fight in their appropriate divisions.
360+ GRAPPLING DIVISIONS
One of the unique advantages of NAGA events is that competitors are able to compete in both gi & no-gi competition with no extra cost involved. It is $75 to pre-register to fight in both gi & no gi competition. Pre-registered fighters will receive a free competition T-shirt. There are divisions for all ages and all skill levels.
82 NEW championship BELTS
The NAGA has come up with by far the baddest CHAMPIONSHIP BELT on the
Planet. The brand new GOLD Championship Belts are awesome!!! All Men &
Women expert division Winners (30 Belts), Children & Teen expert divisions winners
both boys & girls (52 Belts) will take home a belt. See Registration form for specific
Championship Belt divisions. Note: Only one belt will be awarded, even if multiple
expert divisions are won by an individual competitor.
9 team awards
All three of our top team finishers (Adult No-Gi, Adult Gi and Children/Teens) will
receive a NAGA World Championship Team Award. Each of these 9 awards will
be custom made with the winning teams logo on the award. Each team will also be
highlighted in an upcoming issue of Gladiator Magazine, including team photos, interviews with instructors and individual results from the event. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase the talent that your academy posses.
